Costa Concordia Pulled Upright After More Than A Year (PHOTOS)
Remember The Cruise Ship That Crashed Off The Coast Of Italy? This Is What Concordia Looks Like Now… (PHOTOS)
Remember this?
Costa Concordia capsized in January 2012 when the captain brought the ship too close to the shore and rammed it into a reef on Giglio Island in Italy. The luxury liner drifted and then turned on its side, killing 32 people. Two of the bodies were never recovered.
For more than a year, the liner has been halfway in the water off the coast of Tuscany, an eyesore to residents and visitors of the beautiful beach and a tragic reminder of the death that came from the accident.
But with some manpower, some heavy duty tools and a 19-hour operation, the boat was pulled completely upright in one of the most daring engineering feats.
And amazingly, this is what the boat looks like now:
Let’s take a look at that side-by-side:
Water is some powerful stuff, huh?
