Reggie Bush To Miss The ESPY’s?

I lost touch with the latest news from the States today while DEF was covering a lot of ground with Reggie, Kim and Khloe in Botswana. If Reggie receives any grief for not being at the ESPY Awards, I’d like to have a word with those folks. See, I was there with him today when 350 school children in Jwaneng, the village that exists around the one of the world’s largest diamond mines and, in a remote area of Botswana. And with him yesterday when after 25 hours of travel he went straight to a children’s rehabilitation center and spent a few hours visiting with the kids and playing football with the boys. I even saw him playing soccer with a football, kicking it and making all the kids roll with laughter.

Today, the children of the Acacia School lost their minds with excitement the second they saw Reggie, Kim and Khloe step out of the van in their town. Three years ago Russell visited this same school and the head of the school told me Russell was the last visitor they could remember that was special to the students. Until today, NFL star Reggie Bush, Kim and Khloe Kardashian impacted them WAY more than these children could have imagined. And they knew exactly who our friends were, down to sharing with Khloe they had just seen an episode where she and her boyfriend broke up. WHAT? I haven’t seen these episodes yet! I have never seen so much excitement in my life!

The only negative for the school is the teachers were not able to keep the students focused all week with excitement about their special visitors. We joked that Reggie, Kim and Khloe should never visit a school the week before finals or they may be responsible for a big dip in grades.

So, ESPY’s, please cut Reggie some slack. Reggie’s here to help raise awareness for cause of empowerment through education for young Africans, and if today was any indication, he inspired a lot of little ones to dream big.
