John Roberts, Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court is seriously considering stepping down from the nation’s highest court for personal reasons. Roberts, known for his right leaning philosophy, has been on the Supreme Court since 2005, he was nominated by President George W. Bush after the death of former Chief Justice William Rehnquist. This is shocking. If Roberts steps down, President Barack Obama would be able to nominate his second Supreme Court Justice in under a year. His first nominee Sonia Sotomayor was nominated and confirmed by the Senate in a 61 to 38 vote in 2009.
