Like it or not, the Internet is a key component to dating nowadays.

Whether swiping through Tinder or scrolling down your Instagram feed, your next fling could be somewhere online.

When it comes to Instagram, there are a lot of red flags someone can give off. As the most visual social media, take the signs as a gift. Swipe through to find out which signs are reason to disconnect from your crush and keep it moving.

All they do is take the same selfie over and over again

Everyone can use a cute selfie every now and then. But if all you see on your crush’s page is the same selfie…with the same framing and the same murky lighting, something’s not right.

Not only do they lack creativity, but what else do they care about? Give me a music snapshot, an inspirational quote, food, anything! Something that tells me you’re not all about your face and body.

They watch all your Insta Stories, but haven’t messaged you a word

Keeping tabs can be flattering at first. But after a while, if your crush doesn’t message you or doesn’t respond to your messages, they’re entering stalker territory.

Your crush stays creeping on their ex

Speaking of stalking, if you ever meet up with your Insta crush and they’re too preoccupied with what their ex is doing, it’s a red flag. You should give them some time to get over it. Let them know “un-friending” and “unfollowing” is a gift. Use it.

All their Instagram captions are long pseudo-intellectual sermons

Know your medium. Instagram is for pictures and videos. If Insta crush posts long proclamations with no context, it means they don’t know how to be precise and they don’t do research. Edit what you post, or else, shut up and keep it cute.

Their meme game is quite frankly offensive

Edgy comedy can fly every now and then, but there’s a thin line between funny and just plain offensive. Check your tolerance level with Insta bae. If your patience is up, it might be time to move on.

They’re way too concerned with how many followers they have

If your crush is doing things like making hashtags, then deleting them just to get likes or followers, something’s not right.

It’s perfectly fine to use Instagram as a business, and followers might lead to revenue. But if Insta crush is constantly keeping track of who unfollowed them or trying to maintain their “follower to following ratio,” another more tolerable online cutie is just a swipe away.
