It’s no secret that if there was a time machine, we’d all probably opt to travel back to the 1990’s. Let’s face it, the 90’s were all that, and then some.
More than five 90’s movie and TV show reboots were announced in the past week, including House Party, Saved By The Bell and possibly Family Matters.
But what if we rebooted more thing from the golden 90’s era for more than Entertainment purposes.
Don’t you miss the days when the only opinions you had to worry about were from the people around you? Try having seven billion peoples’ opinion coming at you simultaneously. There are so many things we would bring back (besides some of those tv show reboots) that would probably do us some good in these troubled times:
Actual Human Contact and Simple Fun
Remember when people actually went outside to parks, talked to their neighbors and had block parties? Things like computers and smartphones were more luxurious privileges than everyday necessities.Forget hopscotch, tag and jump rope — if it doesn’t come in technology form, today’s kids don’t want any parts.
Hit the flip to see what else we want back from the Golden era.
Music
Music in the 90’s felt eternal, meaningful and plain old good. Whether it was the grittiest of Gangsta Rap or the soothing sounds of Neo-Soul — there was always a song that could perfectly express how you were feeling at any point in you life (as opposed to how many cars you drive and how lit you were at the club).
Lack of (Fear-based) Information
It seem like as soon as Y2K hit, more and more fear was pumped into the minds of civilians. Everything from fear of flying to fear of terrorism to fear of the economy collapsing has taken over our ability to simply enjoy life.
Little to no Reality TV
Reality TV has totally taken over our lives and transformed the way we perceive everything from relationships to success. Everyone isn’t a carefree superstar with a billion dollars — but reality tv will have you thinking otherwise and comparing your chapter to theirs.
Authenticity in Fashion
Back in the day, wearing ripped jeans and chokers was person of an acquired personal style for a certain type of person as opposed to a trend. Brands like Fashion Nova and Supreme allow folks to be able to afford to dress just like their favorite celeb, which is a beautiful thing. The downside is that everyone will eventually be walking around like clones of Instagram models and aspiring NBA players.
Not being so obsessed with the past
We miss the simplicity of life so much these days that most of our energy is spent on reminiscing. Just look at the many reboots in the making and the fact that most of us dress like the Spice Girls or the Fresh Prince.
