When it comes to music, some artists are more interested in the art aspect of it than business side. Hence the reason why the artists behind some of our favorite hits are poppin’ one day and gone the next. That may not be the case for all of them, but them.

Some musicians encounter financial issues as a result of the music biz, or they just decide that their personal life and privacy is more important.
With that being said, hit the flip for R&B kings and queens that has everyone asking:
Jon B.
Jon. B rose to fame in 1995 as a songwriter for stars like Michael Jackson and Toni Braxton. Jon’s debut album Bonafide instantly went platinum after it’s release, but it was his his second studio album Cool Relax in 1997, that spawned his most memorable record “They Don’t Know.”

In a 2017 episode of Unsung, Jon announced that he has new music coming in 2018.
Blu Cantrell
You couldn’t go anywhere in 2001 without the sweet, revengeful sounds of Blu Cantrell on “Hit Em Up Style.” Not only was she a very promising artist back then, but she was also Jay-Z’s leading lady.

We haven’t heard much from Blu musically in over 6 years, but she did resurface in 2014 after going bezerk in Santa Monica, running through the streets, ranting about people trying to kill her. Police took her into custody for psychological evaluation and we seen much of her since.
Sunshine Anderson
Talk about an international anthem for fed up women! In 2001, Sunshine Anderson did that. Ladies still turn up when “Heard It All Before” comes on, no matter where they are. But where has Sunshine been?

These days, the queen is still touring off of that classic record and being a mommy to her beautiful daughter.
Donell Jones
Donell Jones, a.k.a. Mr. Swee Doo Doo Dee Dip Dee Dee, is probably one of the first names that come to mind when you think 90’s R&B. He started out in 1994 as a writer for Usher and 702. But Jones’ star didn’t fully take off until his second album Where I Wanna Be was released in 1999 — becoming his most successful project to date.

Donell is still able to tour, thanks to his epic resume of hits. In 2016, he released a new single “Never Let Her Go” featuring David Banner.
Lumidee
Anytime your only hit record is a summer anthem, you’ll never truly be forgotten. That’s the case for Lumidee whose 2003 hit record “Never Leave” acted as the soundtrack for many summers to come.
Where She At Doe:
Lumidee is still making music these days. She even dropped a track featuring her fellow Harlemite Dave East back in 2015.
Truth Hurts
Shari Watson, a.k.a. Truth Hurts, was doing her thing in the entertainment business even before her 2002 smash single “Addictive” took over the radio. She first appeared on Busta Rhymes’ 2001 hit single, “Break Ya Neck”, as a backing vocalist. In 2001, she played a small role in “The Wash” starring Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, as well as a cameo in the film Ali starring Will Smith.

Since the success of “Addictive” Watson opted to play the background instead and contributed backup vocals to artists like Jay-Z and Eve. She’s currently working on new music and promoting it in Europe.
Amerie
Since she took over the early 2000’s with her soft yet powerful voice with summer anthems like “1 Thing” and “Why Don’t We Fall In Love” — it’s kind of an annual thing to ask “Where’s Amerie?”
Where she at doe:
Amerie has been living her best life. She recently released a young adult novel called “Because You Love To Hate Me” and announced earlier this year that she’s expecting her first child.
Jesse Powell
Even these days, Jesse Powell is one of those vocalist that everyone wants to have sing at their wedding. His 1998 hit “You” is still his biggest song to date.
Where He At Doe:
Unfortunately, we still don’t know exactly where Jesse Powell is, but we know he’s making music.
Eamon
The Staten Island native combined hip hop and R&B before it was the wave. His 2003 track “F*** It” topped the charts and broke the Guiness Book Of World Records for the most expletives in a #1 song.

These days, Eamon is still making music, writing for other artists and being an authentic New Yorker.
