Thanks to smartphones, Google, and social media, kids are growing up a lot different than they were in the ’80s and ’90s. Back in our day, when we had to walk 10 miles to school (barefoot with only 50 cents for lunch), there was no such thing as Facebook or DMs. Spending time with your friends was all about in-person fun—not documenting everything with videos and pictures to share virtually. We love all this new school tech, but since it’s #ThrowbackThursday we’re taking a walk down memory lane. The first old school OG game? Red Light, Green Light 1, 2, 3. The object of this game is to not get caught moving toward the designated traffic cop, who spins around like a madman while screaming “Red Light, Green Light, 1-2-3!.” Whoever reaches the cop first, wins.
Hit the flip for more nostalgia.
Numbers
The OG of all hand games, Numbers was a favorite amongst girls (and guys trying to impress their favorite ladies). The object of the game? To move the fastest and last the longest.
7-Up
Whenever there wasn’t much to do at school, or a substitute teacher felt especially lazy, we played 7-Up. The object of the game was to figure out who out of the chosen 7 touched your thumb.
Tag
Tag needs no introduction. If you were “it,” you chased the other players until you tagged one. That person would then become “it” and chase their next victim.
Steal The Bacon
Do you remember this one?! Steal The Bacon is one our favorites. The object of the game was to steal the “bacon” before the other team did and get back to the starting point before being tagged or tackled to certain death.
Double Dutch
Last but not least, Double Dutch, a classic amongst all generations. How long can you last and how many tricks can you do inside the ropes without getting tangled up?
