On Sunday, one of the most talked-about performances from the Billboard Music Awards came from the Korean pop group BTS.
With dope choreography, smooth vocals and a legion of fans to support them (their “ARMY”), BTS has clearly become a global phenomenon.
They’ve already won the Billboard Award for Top Social Artist two years in a row and their performance on Sunday marked the first time any Korean artist has performed at the BMAs.

BTS is an acronym for the Korean expression Bangtan Sonyeondan, meaning Bulletproof Boy Scouts. They also go by the name Bangtan Boys and were founded in 2013 with current members being Jin, Rap Monster (RM), Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, Jungkook and V.
Some of their members learned English by watching the 90s sitcom Friends. The leader of the group RM, spilled the details on Ellen.
BTS made K-pop history when their 2016 album Wings peaked at number 26 on The Billboard 200 chart, making it the highest charting K-pop album ever.
Warren G was an early supporter of BTS. He appeared on their American Hustle Life reality show, giving them strong critiques and an important lesson on West Coast hip hop. Warren even collaborated with lead rapper RM for the track “P.D.D.”
RM continued to build his rap cred by appearing with Wale on the politically charged track “Change.”
