It’s been 4 whole years since Bobby Shmurda took over the Summer with his hit song “Hot N***a”.
The Brooklyn native and the GS9 boys not only had the whole city on fire — it shot Bobby into the stratosphere of Internet fame. How can you forget that dance?
But with fame comes many many eyes on you and lots of folks who want to see you drown. Unfortunately for Bobby, he gave the NYPD exactly what they wanted from him, thanks to his detailed lyrics in “Hot N***a”.

But luckily the young emcee will be free in the year 2020, and hopefully he learned his lesson on discretion. Hit the flip to see more stars who confessed to things in their music and paid the price for it.
Boosie – “187”
Back in 2012, Boosie’s “187” song was used by the prosecution in the case against the rapper, who was accused of hiring Michael “Marlo Mike” Louding to kill 35-year-old Terry Boyd in 2009. Boosie eventually beat the case, but that was after doing 5 years in prison.
Usher – “Confessions II”
Although the song was about Jermaine Dupri’s personal life, Usher’s relationship with Chilli fizzled out around the same time, causing folks to speculate that U.R did in fact cheat on the TLC star. The pair broke up just months after the single was released.
R Kelly -“I Admit”
Kellz dropped a 19-minute song basically addressing his numerous sex scandals, his relationship with Aaliyah, and the fact that he’s broke and illiterate. Folks still aren’t buying it, and the boycotts to get R. Kelly outta here are stronger than ever.
Meek Mill – “The Ride”
On the Dreamchasers 2 track, Meek expressed his disdain for assistant D.A. Noel Ann DeSantis, rapping, “The D.A. said she hate me but I don’t understand/When I just rocked a show in front of 50,000 fans/I think that bitch racist, she probably in a clan.” When he arrived to his court hearing following the song’s release, DeSantis threatened him to “tread lightly”. Meek refrained from mentioning the D.A in his music since then, but she got him arrested anyway in 2017.
Demi Lovato- “Sober”
Just weeks before being admitted into the hospital due to a drug overdose, Demi Lovato revealed in a super candid song that she had in fact relapsed. Friends and family were worried about the star around the time she released the daunting song, but Demi’s demons proved to be too much her on that fateful July day.
Drake – “March 14”
Pusha T did most of the work for Drake by revealing to the world that “Adonis is your son.” The short beef put a wrench in Drake’s plans to reveal the news himself around the time he announced his Adidas collab. Drizzy released his “Scorpion” album a few weeks after the beef, and had to quickly add another song to give us the real story of Adonis.
Jay Z- “4:44” & “Kill Jay Z”
Hov is usually too cool for school, but when he almost let the baddest girl in the world get away, he had to make some changes to his “untouchable” persona. Jay did just that on his 4:44 album, addressing everything from Becky With The Good Hair, to the elevator incident with Solange. He may have lost some lady fans for betraying their beloved Bey, but the Carters seem happier than ever these days.
