Unfortunately, over the last few years we’ve witnessed some major hurricanes that haves caused devastation across U.S. territories.
In 2017 alone, the U.S. was hit with multiple Category 4 or more hurricanes, including Hurricane Harvey (which hit parts of Texas and Louisiana), Hurricane Irma (which hit various Caribbean islands and parts of Florida) and Hurricane Maria (which hit various Caribbean islands, including Puerto Rico).
Each hurricane has caused major displacement and devastation amongst residents, and now in 2018, parts of the Carolinas and Virginia have been tragically hit by Hurricane Florence.
Relief efforts after each hurricane continues to be a challenge and our current commander-in-chief isn’t necessarily making things smoothers.
Even though Donald Trump has made appearances to places hit hard by hurricanes, his insensitive rhetoric and just plain ridiculousness continues to make people wonder how this man became president. Hit the next pages for a teaser of all the outrageous things Trump has said in the midst of tragedy.
The time Trump said the U.S. relief efforts for Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico were “incredibly successful” despite close to 3,000 people dying, still damaged infrastructures and thousands of people being displaced.
“I actually think it is one of the best jobs that’s ever been done with respect to what this is all about,” Trump said.
That time he practiced his jump shot by throwing paper towels into a crowd of hurricane survivors in Puerto Rico.
When Trump went on T.V. and described Hurricane Florence as “big and incredibly wet.”
When Trump continued with his spot-on adjectives by calling Hurricane Florence as “one of the wettest we’ve ever seen from the standpoint of water.”
That time a large yacht washed ashore against the wooden deck of someone’s house, then Trump asked the owner of the house “Is this your boat?”
The owner responded “no” and then Trump replied, “At least you got a nice boat out of the deal.”
By “deal,” he means Hurricane Florence.
Trump continued, “They don’t know whose boat that is. What’s the law? Maybe it becomes theirs.”
How supportive.
That time Trump and first lady Melania were visiting the Houston area after Hurricane Harvey and they stopped by an emergency shelter for people displaced by the hurricane.
After talking to survivors and passing out food, the two headed out and Trump told the displaced survivors to “have a good time.”
Trump later repeated the same sentiments after visiting Hurricane Florence survivors in North Carolina.
And finally, that time Trump used a natural disaster to once again drag Democrats.
We’ll continue to keep you updated, as Trump will surely say more ridiculous things during “incredibly successful” hurricane relief efforts.
