Homecoming season is nothing to play around with.
Whether you’re a stressed-out student or proud alumni, your spirit must be at peak party level or else, consider your college life a failure.
DJs and dancers are especially important during this season since they usher in the positive vibes and grand energy.
No matter which HBCU or Black Student Union party you go to, there are certain songs that are required listening. Hit the next pages to take them in, along with the required dances that go with them.
If you don’t get hype when one of these songs play….then may the heavens have mercy on your soul.
“This Is How We Do It” by Montell Jordan
Required Dance: Let’s start off with the basics. An easy-to-do shoulder and chest bounce will suffice.
“Knuck If You Buck” by Crime Mob
Required Dance: Whether you’re “come in the club shaking my dreads” ready, or you’re bald-headed and shaking brain juice….
Something better be shaking up there.
“2 Step” by Unk
Required Dance: Unk pretty much tells you what to do throughout the song. But you might want to throw a “Walk It Out” in there when necessary.
“Ooouuu” by Young M.A or “Hot Ni**a” by Bobby Shmurda (whichever one comes first)
Required Dance: Another simple two-step, but slower this time. This one’s for the alabaster negroes who’re too hard to dance all the time.
“Swag Surfin'” by F.L.Y. (Fast Life Yungstaz)
Required Dance: Grab the nearest shoulder, hold on tight and ride the wave.
“Get Me Bodied (Extended Mix)” by Beyoncé
Required Dance: A “Crazy In Love”-era type booty bounce. Then do whatever Beyoncé tells you to do.
It’s art imitating life.
“Poison” by Bell Biv DeVoe
Required Dance: A very 90s running man.
“Before I Let Go” by Maze feat. Frankie Beverly
Required Dance: Time to get in formation like you’re at your great auntie’s Labor Day cookout. This classic line-dance song will never let go!
“Murder She Wrote” by Chaka Demus & Pliers
Required Dance: Slow wine pon ya partner’s groin.
“Bring It Back” by Travis Porter
Required Dance: This song starts the twerking section of our required dancing. In this case, a fast twerk while simultaneously backing it up like a train will do.
“Donk” by Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em
Required Dance: A wisely paced twerk that builds from slow to fast.
“Back That Azz Up” by Juvenile
Required Dance: This one is the epitome of all twerk-shaking and a$$ popping. It separates the adults from the kids.
First, make sure all vulnerable objects or liabilities are at a safe distance. Then widen them legs, hands on ya knees, and twerk like it’ll cure all your finances. Twerk like your a$$ just went Super Saiyan. Twerk like your life depended on it.
