The live action Lion King hasn’t even come out yet and already, it’s giving life lessons to live by in the trailer.
The much-anticipated flick first released a teaser of what’s to come in November 2018, but now folks can get a fuller scope of the kingdom thanks to the full-length trailer Disney dropped on Wednesday.
To say it brought all the feels would be an understatement.
Some shots surely brought the childhood nostalgia with imagery of the kingdom, a closer look at Rafiki, and imagery of a young Simba arguably looking cuter than he did in the animated movie.
But most importantly, the trailer was already giving life lessons that can only come from a 90s Disney flick. Some are more apparent, such as themes around mentorship, while others can only stem from the Twitter-verse, such as making sure you look cute no matter how much bad lighting is in the animal kingdom.
Hit the next pages for four life lessons amplified by the trailer and social media, and let us know if you agree with the jewels or not.
Lesson 1
When Mufasa speaks, you listen
Periodt.
It’s so refreshing to hear James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa, and as soon as he uttered words onscreen, everyone should have went silent.

Where else can you experience a deep baritone vibrato that lies between wisdom, power, and slight sex appeal?
Nowhere.
When the king speaks you listen.
Lesson 2
Ashy lions need love too
While Mufasa was looking all majestic and pretty in the trailer, folks couldn’t help but notice that Scar was looking like a deprived down-and-out dustball.
Now granted, Scar did kill an important player in the movie, but with the way they have him looking in this live action trailer, you can’t blame a guy for trying to overthrow the kingdom.
I mean, give the man some warm mood light, an endless supply of shea butter lotion. SOMETHING.
Ashy lions need love too.
Lesson 3
Warthogs aren’t really that cute, but they too need love
If you squealed at the first appearance of Timon and Pumbaa, don’t be ashamed. They’re the best.
They took a young Simba in and nurtured him with love and bugs so he could return to his inherited kingdom (clearly, there were no child services in the animal kingdom, but hey, Simba turned out okay).
Despite all this, similar to Scar, the live action Lion King features a color-deprived Pumbaa. The cute warthog we knew from the animated movie now looked like….
Well…
An actual warthog.
These certainly aren’t the 90s anymore.
But again, we’ll allow it.
Pumbaa could be the next icon to bring grey back in fashion.
Lesson 4
The Lion King score still kills in 2019
Possibly the biggest mood-shifter that brought people back to their childhood self was the epic music playing mid-trailer.
The lush symphony…
The operatic chorus…
Can someone say TEARS.
If you’re someone who has big doubts about these Disney movie remakes, at least pay for the infectious music that still holds up in 2019.
Your childhood self will thank you.
