GOING GLOBAL: Eliza Doolittle, The Next Big Star! (MUSIC x PHOTOS)
Eliza Doolittle had a certified platinum debut release in the UK. She is continuing her efforts to go global by using her first single ‘Rollerblades’ to break into the US. The song is currently featured on iTunes Single of the Week. Her previous UK single ‘Pack Up” has recently been certified gold and landed a spot on iTunes Rewind as one the best-selling songs of 2010.
According to the New York Post’s Pop Wrap, the playful Eliza Doolittle “sings like a hummingbird and writes lyrics that sonnets would envy.” Her voice is beautiful and expressive. It’s high and clear, with the occasional emotive crack. The pretty melodies and tweeting harmonies (literally, in some cases) are whimsical, as if Doolittle’s vocals were recorded just after waking and stretching from a dream-filled sleep.
This past summer she performed at every major UK festival and on February 10th, the 22-year-old songstress will make her New York City live debut at the intimate Lower East Side venue, Joe’s Pub. If you can’t make it to her showcase, you’ll just have to watch the sexual innuendo filled video for ‘Skinny Genes’ and her hit single ‘Rollerblades’ below.
