Miguel On Lloyd Incident: “Lets Get It Straight Once And For All”
Miguel is currently doing his thing. With 2 number 1 singles, and an album critics love it’s no wonder why he’s nominated for an AMA award for best new artist.
MUSIC: Miguel: Girls Like You (VIDEO)
A while back the “Girls Like You” singer made a comment on twitter about Lloyd biting his style. Events happen and a video of Miguel and Lloyd “talking” it out their problems pops up online.
EXCLUSIVE: Miguel Talks AMAs And Lotus Flower Bomb
We caught up with Miguel to ask him about that particular event to clear it up once and for all.
GlobalGrind: You got into a little bit of an incident with Lloyd. He confronted you, and that video made its way on the Internet. When that happened what was going through your mind, was there any idea that this guy might snap?
Miguel: Nah nah, let’s get it straight forreal once and for all! I went to his room on my own, by myself. I don’t walk with security, I don’t travel with security. I went to his room by myself and confronted him, it was no him confronting me, lets make sure that that’s straight.
You went there to squash everything out just so every misunderstanding could be ironed out?
I mean I went there to tell him as a man that I stand by what I say, but at the same time I knew that it was inappropriate in the place that it was said.
And as a man I can look at my faults and be like okay, Twitter is not the best place to voice opinions like that and I apologized for that but if you listen to the recording you can hear me say even though that’s my opinion and I stand by my opinion I know that it was the wrong time to express, to say that especially on Twitter.
So I mean I didn’t go there necessarily to squash any beef because there was no beef to begin with. I went there just to clarify my position as a man.
I also noticed that you changed up your style a little bit, not a reference to vocally but some of the stuff I see you wearing. Was that a conscious decision or did you hire a new stylist. What’s going on with that?
Interestingly, no I’m not, I basically started styling myself now. There’s an interesting story that goes along with the roll out of my project and style. I pretty much come full circle when it comes to aesthetics. I think how I dress myself is a lot closer to how I dressed when I first signed as an artist.
There’s a long story in between that has to do with a relationship of mine and depending on having this huge really big opinion and I sacrifice a lot of my taste in order to please her and not only to please her but to kind of have the label understand that I’m different. You know I got caught up in a whole long thing but it’s not necessarily a conscious thing. It’s still a lot more effortless if you look at all my stuff now. It doesn’t seem forced or untried or anything. I just feel like it’s very unique.
