Move over Bratz Summer and enter your very mindful and very demure era. The viral trend has changed this beauty content creator Jools Lebron’s life, who kicked off the silly social media sensation earlier this month.

Lebron didn’t create the word on her own, but she did reinvent it. The social media girlies are finding the term has been used in popular television shows like “Gilmore Girls,” “The Nanny” and films like “Mulan.” According to Merriam-Webster, demure can be defined as “affectedly modest, reserved, or serious.” However, its meaning in the world of TikTok could be an array of things, primarily when things have been blown out of proportion.

Making huge waves online, the “demure” lifestyle has now also ushered in the major moves for Lebron. Celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Penn Badgley, Lindsay Lohan, Jamie Lee Curtis and Jenna Ortega have joined the demure bandwagon.

One 38-second video post by Lebron in early August has taking the Internet by storm and also moved mountains in the TikToker’s own life. The transgender-identifying woman recently shared a life update on Wednesday (Aug. 14), telling her “divas” how the social media platform has changed her life.

“One day, I was playing cashier and making videos on my break, and now I’m flying across countries to host events, and I’m gonna be able to finance the rest of my transition,” Lebron said in the video.
