Here’s what we learned:
1. The Singer Makes Historic Return
The first person to double as the cover star for both Vogue and British Vogue. She shares a few details from her highly-anticipated album. This is Adele’s first interview in five years.
2. Maybe "I'm The Problem"
Whereas Adele’s previous albums took pride in telling her past lovers how she felt, she’s learning with this new album that maybe she was actually the problem for her relationship woes.
3. No Collabs
Speaking about this time being an age of artist collaboration, she told the publication: “It’s not that I don’t want to. It’s not calculated. It’s just never been right for some reason.”
4. Her Son Angelo Inspired The Album
Adele discusses how the songs were created for her son Angelo so that he may listen to understand her better when he’s older.
“He has so many simple questions for me that I can’t answer, because I don’t know the answer,” she shares in the Vogue story.
5. All of Us Hearing New Adele Is Coming
The first single “Easy on Me” comes out October 15. Vogue refers to Adele’s upcoming single as “a gut-wrenching plea of a piano ballad.”
6. Sad Girl Winter? Adele Played The Album For Her Dad Before He Died
Adele’s relationship with her father, Mark Evans, has long been an ongoing topic in the tabloids. (There were reports that he allegedly sold interviews about his daughter to gossip publications)
Despite the rumors and their alleged troubled past, before he died this year, Adele said she patched things up with him. “I found the peace to forgive him,” she told British Vogue. And a week before his death from cancer in May, she added, she played him her new album on a video call.
7. The Album Features Voice Notes From Other Artists
The album will feature voice notes from other musicians, including Skepta and Tyler, the Creator. The publication confirmed the new album is without any features, but it will feature some of her musician friends with voice note interludes.
“I thought it might be a nice touch,” Adele told Vogue of the voice notes, “seeing as everyone’s been at my door for the last ten years, as a fan, to be like, Would you like to come in?”
