Tuesday morning, the full list of nominees for the 56th NAACP Image Awards was announced, and let’s just say it’s stacked with talent. Cynthia Erivo, Keke Palmer, Kendrick Lamar, Kevin Hart, and Shannon Sharpe are all vying for the prestigious Entertainer of the Year award.

Mark your calendars because the winners will be revealed during the live two-hour special airing Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 8 PM ET/PT on BET and CBS, straight from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. This year’s theme, ā€œOur Stories, Our Culture, Our Excellence,ā€ couldn’t feel more fitting.

The Big Leaders: Film, TV, and Music

If you’re keeping track, The Piano Lesson is dominating in the motion picture categories with 14 nominations, followed by The Book of Clarence with six. In the TV space, Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist is leading with nine nominations, and Netflix continues its reign with a jaw-dropping 62 nods across categories.

Music is bringing the heat too, with GloRilla snagging six nominations, the most in the music categories, while Doechii, Kendrick Lamar, and Usher each earned four. Oh, and shoutout to RCA Records for being the most nominated record label with 11 nods!

Black Women at the Forefront

Ayo Edebiri is having a year! She scored four nominations, including three for her work on The Bear and one for Saturday Night Live. Meanwhile, Keke Palmer—who’s up for Entertainer of the Year—is shining with four nominations of her own, thanks to her work on Password, The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy, and her podcast Baby, This is Keke Palmer.

The nominations dropped live on CBS Mornings, where Chlƶe Bailey joined NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson to share the news. Actress Novi Brown and Grownish star Trevor Jackson kept the vibes going with an announcement on YouTube.

Black Excellence on Display

The NAACP Image Awards always bring the star power, and this year will be no different. Previous attendees and winners include everyone from BeyoncĆ© and Angela Bassett to Quinta Brunson and Zendaya. Who will be this year’s showstoppers? Tune in February 22 to find out.

Get ready for another year of celebrating the brilliance, resilience, and impact of Black creativity. We’ll see you at the 56th NAACP Image Awards—because this year’s theme says it all: Our Stories, Our Culture, Our Excellence.
