The rookie police officer who shot and killed unarmed Brooklyn man Akai Gurley has been recommended by the lead prosecutor in the case to not serve any prison time.
Rookie NYPD officer Peter Liang, who gunned down unarmed Akai Gurley in the darkened stairwell of a Brooklyn public housing project, was found guilty of manslaughter late Thursday.
Prosecutors used the testimony to further prove that Liang was too busy worrying about his job to help save Gurley.
